Muscle regeneration and atrophy

Muscle regeneration, aging and senescence

Skeletal muscle repair depends on coordinated changes in cell state and metabolism. We investigate how metabolic regulation influences the transition from stem-cell activation to differentiation, and how these processes become disrupted during atrophy and aging.

From mechanism to function

Cell and bioengineered-tissue models are combined with metabolomics, lipidomics, imaging and functional phenotyping. This allows molecular pathways to be evaluated in relation to regenerative capacity and muscle performance.
