Cold and cellular resilience
Mild hypothermia activates a coordinated cellular response rather than simply slowing metabolism. We study how this response reshapes mitochondrial function, RNA regulation and muscle-cell differentiation, with particular attention to the cold-shock protein RBM3.
Biological focus
By following cells during cooling and recovery, we examine how protective programmes are established, maintained and reversed. This work provides a mechanistic basis for asking whether aspects of cold adaptation can be used to improve tissue resilience without prolonged cooling.
